What is a Chronotype?

First, you need to understand the definite meaning of chronotype. Is the natural character of your body that monitors your sleep cycles and works productivity. To be more precise, it is a categorization structure that can help you understand sleep and routines, together with which time of the day you are most energetic and attentive, ultimately helping you improve your work performance. It is specifically associated with the circadian rhythm, which is the one in control of melatonin production. Your circadian rhythm is mainly affected during the daytime and happens to soar up and go down with the sun. So, it means that melatonin production is little in the morning, this helps you wake up and is more in the nightfall so that you can doze off.

Types of Chronotypes

Principally, there are four types: bear, wolf, lion, and dolphin. As you can see, each of these is relatively based on the sleeping patterns and conducts of respective animals, so let’s move on and find out in which category you may lie.

1. The Bear

In the bear, the sleep and wake routines hinge on the sun. People with these intermediate styles have no difficulty waking up and falling asleep and are referred to as hummingbirds. Normally they are very productive before noontime and are inclined to the post-meridian dip around 2 PM and 4 PM, which means that their energy levels start to deteriorate when the sun starts to set and that they start curving down for sleep in the early evening.

2. The Wolf

Know somebody who is not a morning person? Then most likely they have a wolf chronotype and are typically night owls. People with this chronotype have difficulty waking up early in the morning and are more productive and active when they get up at midday or noontime, especially since their top efficiency begins at noon and their energy levels boost through the evenings as well which helps them to be more productive while others are cooked at that time of the day.

3. The Lion

Do you like to wake up early in the morning? Then you must be a skylark and have the lion chronotype since you have no difficulty waking up early and feel most energetic and productive before noon. People who have this morning chronotype category are most efficient when they wake up and can instantly begin their daily tasks. They prefer not to drag their work till evening, so they realize their tasks as soon as possible when they are most productive. After concluding their day, individuals with the lion chronotype have no difficulty falling asleep early as well, generally by 9 PM or 10 PM.

4. The Dolphin

People who have difficulty sticking to any sleep plan fall in the dolphin chronotype category. They find it hard to wake up early in the morning, but the minute they actuate, their performance levels top quickly around mid-morning. People with dolphin chronotypes typically doze off since their body demands it, not because they eagerly want to sleep. Usually, highly intellectual, dolphin types deliberate about their achievements and fiascos while they are in bed. Point of interest, people having this chronotype can be perceived as detached and indifferent during social encounters.
